I have started this blog as an outlet for my ideas on what must happen to theatre.  The title is taken from a Mark Twain newspaper piece entitled "Enthusiastic Eloquence."  Twain, with his undying wit, writes of the piano as an instrument of quantity, not of expression.  On this blog I will talk about smashing our old ideas and inviting a new type of theatre, with a community basis, that can do for theatre what Twain claims banjo does for music.
"music that will come right home to you like a bad quarter, suffuse your system like strychnine whisky, go right through you like Brandreth's pills, ramify your whole constitution like the measles, and break out on your hide like the pin-feather pimples on a picked goose..."  - San Francisco Dramatic Chronicle
